Just What Kind of CRAZY is She???

DISCLAIMER: I am not making LIGHT of mental health issues, however people with personality disorders are particularly difficult to get along with because they cannot acknowledge, or even see, that they have a problem; and, their antics tend to hurt others. There is no pill they can pop to fix it. It is just who they are, and who they are can either make you laugh or cry. I am laughing, right now. At Sabrina. There is a reason why people who behave like her have a difficult time maintaining healthy relationships! At any rate, if you feel that posting in a lighthearted way, about personality disorders, is insensitive to people who are afflicted with such conditions, then you probably should stop reading now.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED…

sabrina big brother canadaSo, just what kind of CRAZY is Sabrina Abbate?

I will be honest, here. I am not a doctor. I am not a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist… So, I cannot even BEGIN to diagnose this girl with ANYTHING… But… after watching Sabrina on the Big Brother Canada live feeds for the last couple of months, the amateur head shrink in me cannot help but to wonder… Just what kind of CRAZY is she?

To be fair, there are people out there who turn up the CRAZY just for the sake of the cameras, but when you are faking it, you cannot be ON all the time. There will be times where you WILL behave normally, and not act out, thus flipping the off switch. Sabrina does not seem to possess such a switch, which leads me to believe that she is exactly the person she is portraying herself to be. I will say, however, that my opinions on her brand of crazy has to be strictly based upon the Sabrina we see on Live Feeds. I do not know her in the real life, therefore, I cannot judge her on what I do not know.

With that said…

While it seems as if here are one-hundo psychological and personality disorders out there, there are three that makes me think of Sabrina. Number one is Borderline Personality Disorder. You know… What they diagnosed Jodi Arias with. Then there is Histrionic Personality Disorder (think Tony Soprano’s mom), and Narcissistic Personality Disorder… Which I think about 75.99999% of reality TV stars could be diagnosed with, if we are honest! (See: Nene Leakes and Tamar Braxton)

So, which of these three disorders is Sabrina most like?

A person with Narcissistic Personality Disorder may:

    • React to criticism with rage, shame, or humiliation
    • Take advantage of other people to achieve his or her own goals
    • Have excessive feelings of self-importance
    • Exaggerate achievements and talents
    • Be preoccupied with fantasies of success, power, beauty, intelligence, or ideal love
    • Have unreasonable expectations of favorable treatment
    • Need constant attention and admiration
    • Disregard the feelings of others, and have little ability to feel empathy
    • Have obsessive self-interest
    • Pursue mainly selfish goals

    Histrionic Personality Disorder symptoms include:

    • Acting or looking overly seductive
    • Being easily influenced by other people
    • Being overly concerned with their looks
    • Being overly dramatic and emotional
    • Being overly sensitive to criticism or disapproval
    • Believing that relationships are more intimate than they actually are
    • Blaming failure or disappointment on others
    • Constantly seeking reassurance or approval
    • Having a low tolerance for frustration or delayed gratification
    • Needing to be the center of attention (self-centeredness)
    • Quickly changing emotions, which may seem shallow to others

  • Finally, those with Borderline Personality Disorder tend to have:
    • Intense emotions and mood swings.
    • Harmful, impulsive behaviors. These may include things like substance abuse, binge eating, out-of-control spending, risky sexual behavior, and reckless driving.
    • Relationship problems. You may see others as either “good” or “bad” and may shift from one view to the other suddenly, for minor reasons. This can make relationships very difficult.
    • Low self-worth.
    • A frantic fear of being left alone (abandoned). This fear may lead to frantic attempts to hold on to those around you. Or it may cause you to reject others before they can reject you.
    • Aggressive behavior.

    Other symptoms may include:

    • Feeling empty inside.
    • Problems with anger, such as violent temper tantrums.
    • Hurting yourself, such as cutting or burning yourself.
    • Suicide attempts and suicidal thoughts.
    • Times when you feel paranoid or lose a sense of reality (psychosis).

Personally, she sounds most like one with Narcissistic Personality Disorder to me, while others have said that she acts like she has Borderline Personality Disorder. If only we could cut and paste together Sabrina’s “symptoms” to create her very own disorder? (She is SO special!)

If we cut and paste we get something like:

  • React to criticism with rage, shame, or humiliation
  • Take advantage of other people to achieve his or her own goals
  • Have excessive feelings of self-importance
  • Exaggerate achievements and talents
  • Be preoccupied with fantasies of success, power, beauty, intelligence, or ideal love
  • Have unreasonable expectations of favorable treatment
  • Need constant attention and admiration
  • Disregard the feelings of others, and have little ability to feel empathy
  • Have obsessive self-interest
  • Pursue mainly selfish goals
  • Being overly dramatic and emotional
  • Being overly sensitive to criticism or disapproval
  • Blaming failure or disappointment on others
  • Constantly seeking reassurance or approval
  • Needing to be the center of attention (self-centeredness)
  • Quickly changing emotions, which may seem shallow to others
  • Intense emotions and mood swings.
  • Relationship problems. You may see others as either “good” or “bad” and may shift from one view to the other suddenly, for minor reasons. This can make relationships very difficult.
  • A frantic fear of being left alone (abandoned). This fear may lead to frantic attempts to hold on to those around you. Or it may cause you to reject others before they can reject you.
  • Aggressive behavior.

Mmmm…. Wow… What should we call this disorder?sabrina breaks down

Sabrinitis? Sabissistic Personality Disorder? Gremlinonic Personality Disorder? Saberline Personality Disorder? HoeYouBeNuts Personality Disorder? So many options, so little time…

Now, the mature adult in me has hopes that Sabrina will get out of the house, watch videos of her antics, acknowledge that she can at least UNDERSTAND why people have such a poor view of her, and that she will grow from the experience… However, the immature adult in me (hey, I am a Gemini!!) hopes that she gets out of the house and is the exact same person she has been the last couple of months because that will make for LOADS of fun on the Twitters!

Only time will tell which Sab we get!

Well, that is it for What Kind of Crazy is She??? Would love your feedback.

  1. Hello girlfriend! Firstly, I’ve known all these people with these symptoms in my almost 70 years, ALL those personality disorders (in friends and relationships unfortunately!) Brings back ugly feelings just thinking about it. Now that I’m past it, I live in Florida and exactly HOW do I view Big Brother Canada? Even when I’ve got my special program on for Canada, UK, and Australia, I can’t find Big Brother on the Canada network to view.

Dumbo here; help! You are tooooo funny, but living with someone with these symptoms as I did, it is a nightmare I can tell you!!!!!!!!!!! Grrh, hiss, booh!!!!!! Andy

    1. lol I hear ya. The people with personality disorders, that I know, I stay away from. My uncle is a total pathological liar. Then there are just other people I am acquainted with, but dont get close to.

Well, the way I view BBCAN is by using the Hola extension/add on via Chrome or Firefox. Then I go to the slice website: bigbrothercanada.slice.ca/live to watch the live feeds. You can watch all of the old episodes and videos, too. Only a couple of weeks left in the season, but I hear that BBUK will be starting after Canada ends, so I will probably get lost in that next. lol. Good luck!
